Luc Costermans benar-benar tak punya rasa gentar. Meski buta, pria Belgia ini berani mengemudikan mobil Lamborghini Gallardo dengan kecepatan 308 km per jam, akhir pekan lalu.
Costermans kehilangan penglihatannya karena kecelakaan empat tahun lalu. Namun, kekurangan itu tidak mampu membendung niatnya ngebut di Bandara Istres, selatan Perancis. “Saya sangat bahagia. Ini hasil kerja tim,” ujar pria 43 tahun asal Belgia itu.
Didampingi navigator Guillaume Roman, Costermans berhasi dua kali mengendarai mobil itu dengan kecepatan tinggi. Rekor mengemudi bagi orang buta dipegang Mike Newman asal Inggris. Dia melaju dengan kecepatan 268 km per jam dengan BMW M5 pada Oktober 2005. Ini bukan prestasi pertama bagi Costermans. Dua tahun lalu, dia menyelesaikan penerbangan dengan pesawat ringan di atas udara Perancis.
